Mosheh Gains

Producer & Off-Air Reporter

I cover the Defense Department for NBC News with a particular focus on the day-to-day happenings at the Pentagon and military operations around the country and throughout the world.  I also travel extensively with the secretary of defense overseas as a pool producer, providing real-time updates on the secretary’s movements while providing news and editorial guidance as it breaks.  As pool producer, I also make sure the video we shoot gets back to all of the TV networks and pool clients from our respective locations.  Additionally, my bylines for digital can be seen on NBCNews.com, and pieces I produce from the field or edit room can be seen on “TODAY,” “Nightly News,” MSNBC and on NBC News’ digital platforms.

I’m proud of our rare opportunity to cover U.S. special forces as they trained Somalia Special Forces to help fight Al Shabab.  Our Somalia coverage led us to West Africa to see how U.S. special operators were providing medical care to the local populace to prevent terrorist groups from infiltrating those communities. While I was covering that story, the Presidential Guard attempted a successful coup, and we were the only U.S.-based team on the ground to cover the coup and its aftermath.
