Archival footage from August 1945 shows the devastation after American warplanes dropped atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, instantly killing hundreds of thousands of people. The attacks, which marked the end of World War II and the dawn of the nuclear age, were the first and only time atomic weapons have been used in warfare.
